Noo Cheng Adam Road Prawn Noodle $5
There are a few hae mee(prawn noodle soup) stalls around the island that are using big prawns as a choice or substitute for the usual half sliced tasteless prawns. The mountain tortoise me has never taken interest in all these big prawn noodles in the past because I thought prawns being prawns, how much more shiok it can gets. I mean $8 or $10 is really a ludicrously high price to pay for a bowl of noodles. But I have to say that the soup of those big prawn noodles I’ve eaten somehow are distinctively different and seems to be able to unleash more punch.
Noo Cheng Adam Road Prawn Noodle at Zion Road Food Centre displays uncooked prawns for your viewing pleasure with price tags. That means you can see clearly what prawn size you’re getting for a particular price. A bowl of prawn noodles here starts from $5 so I was expecting a certain standard of hae mee here.

Don’t know whether I’m the first one to run off the mark here but I thought the prawns for my $5 bowl was a little small. Ok it’s tastier for sure and came with heads. But that’s about it, the size of the prawns were disappointing, to put it mildly.
The soup was pretty flavoursome but a bit diluted. For $5 I was expecting generous flavour and taste but sadly, it didn’t score for me here.
For soup and prawn’s size, Noo Cheng Adam Road Prawn Noodle is clearly out of Wah Kee’s and Hoe Nam’s league. Not even if my bowl were to cost me $3. Note that however, some said the seller will throw in some wine in the soup when he’s in a good mood so I may had visited at the wrong time.

Price: $5
Conclusion: Failed to hit the spot for me here. Prawns had good texture and were fresh but $5 was a little expensive for the size. Soup was good but not good enough for $5. Will take a lot for me to part $8 or $10 to have a go at the premium bowl. But many have raved about this stall so it might be a bad day for me.
Likes: Prawns were fresh.
Dislikes: Soup power no enough. Size of prawns quite small. A little expensive.
